The Court of Conscience

Almighty Allah Says in the Holy Qur’an,”And a soul and Him Who perfected it. And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, and he is indeed a failure who stunteth it.” (As-Shams: 10) According to the “Mufessireen” (The commentators), these verses reveal the two ways of life for the man i.e. The evil and The good inspired by Allah Almighty into his consciene. Now, he knows the best about these in the light of the inspirations. For example, if someone asked about hypocrisy, theft, injustice, murder or adultery etc, and he has no concern to any religion or religious dogmas at all, he will suddenly reply without any hesitation that all these actions were bad. Similarly, if he asked about worship, help the poor, to serve the patents and to participate in others pain and trouble, then he will reply in the same way that all these are very good actions and should be act upon them. This Divine inspiration consists of four parts as:-
(1)What is ‘Haqq’ (The Truth?)
(2) What is “Batil” (The Evil?)
(3) A “Touchstone” to test both of them.(whether they are really ‘Haqq or Batil)?
(4)A power or “Taufeeq” to act upon one of these.
This Devine inspiration called “heart” in the light of Shariah and usually known as “conscience”. The Prophet (PBUH) said when a Muslim committed a crime; it gave a black mark on his heart, if he stopped himself to go on that way, and appealed to God for forgiveness, then the mark removed. And if he did not do so, then the mark increased till it covered the full heart, and that was the rust of the hearts.(Bokhare,Muslim).He (PBUH) asked about the sign of an evil? The Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied that it was the sin; that continuously irritated in his heart and he feared that the people should not become aware over it. (Al-Mishkwat)
This pricking in the heart is due to his living conscience. It teaches him to discriminate between evil and good. When he commits a crime it becomes angry and strikes him, and if he does good, then it becomes satisfy and pleasant. As it is a “court” working in his body. This court has a powerful system of investigation, check and balance and also has an ‘authority’ to enforce its judgments over the man. For example, if he is a criminal of law, then it makes him so much disturb that he handover himself before the law at last.
It is surprising that at the Day of Judgment, the decisions will be taken according to the settlement of this court. When the Book will be given to a sinful man, then Allah Almighty will Ordain to him,”  And every man’s augury have We fastened to his own neck, and We shell bring forth for him on the Day of resurrection a book he will find wide open. (And it will be said unto him) Read the book. Thy soul sufficeth as recker against thee this day.
Whosoever goeth right, it is only for (the good of) his own soul that he goeth right, and whosoever erreth only to its hurt. No laden soul can bear another’s load. We never punish until We have sent a messenger.” (Al-Isra:15). It means that he had been given a light of righteousness in this world. Recognition of the evil and the good inspired in his conscience, but he ignored it. Now it was the Day of Reward .So, the man should decide about himself that what should be the reward for him, Paradise or Hell?
Unfortunately, sometime this court stops to working. It means that the conscience of a man has been died. Now there will be no light and no pricking in his heart at all. The question is: what is the sign of a dying conscience? So, the following hadith reveals about it.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that there were three categories of the Faith. First of these is; when a Muslim saw an evil being done, he should stop it by his hand, (it was the first category of the faith), and if he could not do so, then he should stop it by his tongue i.e. by preaching, (it was the second category). And if he could not, so he should see it as an evil in his heart. And that was the third and weakest category of the faith.(Al-Mishkat-ul-Masbeeh)
It means that if a man does not see an evil as unlawful, then his conscience will be dying.
So, it is the need of time to follow the directions of his “inner court”, so that a man may be got a notable reward at the Day of Resurrection

The Multicolor Pictures

Allah Almighty Says in the Holy Qur’an,” He it is who fashioneth you in the wombs as pleaseth Him. There is no God save Him, the Almighty, the Wise.(The Family of Imran:6) Also Says,” He created the heavens and the earth with truth, and He shaped you and made good your shapes, and unto him is the journeying. (AT-Taghabun:3)
These verses reveal that the real former of the “human picture” is Allah, Who shapes the living pictures with body and soul. “Al Musawwer” is His praise and manner. He is not like the painters of this world who draws the pictures on the papers. He infect, participates and confronts to Allah’s manner. So, Allah will Ordain him at the Day of Resurrection that he should bring life in his pictures. But that was not in his power. So he will be punished.
In this article, the man has been assimilated to a “picture” because he is a real picture formed by Allah, Almighty, and also when he passes away, he lefts behind him only his picture set in a frame as his memorial.
Human face shows many “pictures”. For example, sometimes he is a king having great dignity and rank, pomp and show, and sometimes he is a  beggar, having a poor, miserable and unfortunate complexion, sometimes he is a dacoit, gives a flash of terrible face, heavy moustaches and bloody eyes. And sometimes, he gives a color of very liberal and bountiful man as he is a “Shah Baba”, and sometimes he is a merciless and cruel person, when sometimes he gives a color of a kind and noble person etc.
Usually, it is noted that the “picture” of a pious man is bright and beautiful, and also a sign of prostration seen on his forehead. Almighty Allah Says in the Holy Qur’an,” Muhammad is the messenger of Allalh. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves. Thou (O Muhammad) seest them bowing and falling prostrate (in worship), seeking bounty from Allah and (His) acceptance. The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of prostration. Such is their likeness in the Torah and their likeness in the Gospel” (Al-Fatah: 29).
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) asked about the recognition of the people of his Ummah at the Day of Judgment? He replied that he would recognize them by their bright faces, hands and feet, that had been washed in the ablution. (Al-Mishkat) It means that they who offer prayers for five times daily, their faces will be bright.
On the other hand, they who have not faith in Allah and His messenger, their faces will be black on that Day as the Holy Qur’an reveals,” On the day when (some) faces will be whitened and (some) faces will be blackened; and as for those whose faces have been blackened, it will be said unto them, Disbelieved ye after your (profession of) belief? Then taste the punishment for that ye disbelieved. As for those whose faces have been whitened, lo! In the mercy of Allah they dwell forever. (The Family of Imran: 107)
So, to make his “picture” bright and beautiful, the man should act upon the teachings of Islam so that he may be pleasant and successful at the Day of Resurrection. Because, “Oyou the honorable “painter”, perhaps your “picture” is uncompleted yet.

Fire of Enmity can be put out by Love

Islam is such a ‘Deen” that gives a lesson of love, affection, friendship sympathy and tolerance to its believers. All the Muslims being in any part of the world, are brothers to one another’s by the thread of Islam. It is the religion that lays stress on cleanliness of the hearts from hate malice ,hostility, grudge and suspicious etc. The most honorable person in the sight f Islam is he who is the pious and piety. As the Holly Qur’an  reveals,”Lo! The noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware.” (Al-Hojrat:13)
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (R.A), a companion of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), was his attendant and lived in his service for ten years. One day the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said to him,” O my son! If you can pass your life in such a condition that you have no hatred or enmity for anyone; then it is my Sunnah and who  loves my Sunnah, as he loves me, and who loves me , will be with me in Paradise.” (Al-Mishkat-ul-Malabeeh).
It is conceded that the reaction of hate becomes double. It means that, if someone abuses to other, then he will try even to cut his tongue, and if he gives him a slap on his face, the other will try to break his face. And if someone kills a man, then his heirs want to kill all his family in its revenge.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) spread Islam by love, pardon, and toleration as his “Uswa-e-hasana’reveals.He also put out the fire of enmity going on among the tribes. For hundreds years by his good morality and character. The Holy Qur’an reveals,” Verily ye have in them a goodly pattern for everyone who looketh to Allah and the Last Day .And whosoever may turn away, lo! Still Allah, He is the absolute, the Owner of Praise.”
Usually, the base of hatred and enmity etc, is an out come of suspicion; that is prohibited  in Islam. Almighty Allah Ordains,” O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion, for lo! Some suspicion is a sin. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor

that (so abhor  that other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.” (Al-Hojorat:12)
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “O you the slave of Allah, avoid the suspicion! Because it is very false thing, and you should not be spy to anyone, not become jealousy, nor hateful, and not have enmity in you hearts for others, and should not break with other people and be the true brothers to one another’s as it is the orders of Allah.
Enmity and suspicion is created by anger. So, those who suppress their anger and forgive the people are desirable persons in the sight of Islam. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that the real wrestler was not he who had thrown the other wrestler down on his back, but it was he who had controlled over his passions at the time of anger. He also said that when anyone became angry, so, if he was standing at that time, should sit, and if he was sitting, he should lie down and drink water. Because anger had been created by fire and the fire became cold by water. So, it is the need of time to put the fire of enmity and other unbiased differences among us should be put out by love, affection and sympathy.

Action, Reaction

It is a universal truth that every action has its reaction. It means that “If it is so, then it will also be so of course” (In its reaction). For example, if you commit a crime, then you shall be punished, if you follow the law of your country, you shall be rewarded, if you serve your parents, you shall be wished for well-being, if you tease them, then you shall be cursed. Similarly, if you touch the fire, it will burn you, if you handle the ice, it will make you cold, if you eat poison, then you may be died.
Reaction is, infect a natural law, that cannot be changed at all; as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an,”Then, can they expect aught save the treatment of the folk of old? Thou wilt not find for Allah’s way of treatment any substitute, nor wilt thou find for Allah’s way of treatment aught of power to change. (Al-Fatir:43)It is considerable that this law has two parts, first of it is a ‘shart’ (Term or condition) i.e.” If it is so,” and “Then it will be so of course “is, its ‘Jaza’ (return of reward). It means that if the first part is found, then the second one will also be inevitable.
As we see that every Kingdom of the world has its constitution and a penal code for its citizens. According to it, the honorable Judges decide the cases. If someone disobeys the Law or opposes it, he is taken into custody and be punished.
Similarly, this universe is for God and it is His “country”, and He is an absolute and most powerful King of His Kingdom having no partner in His sovereignty. Says in the holy Quran,” Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and He is Able to do all things. Who hath created life and death that He may try you, which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.”(The Sovereighity: 2)Also Says,” Unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. Allah is Able to do all things. (Family of Imran:189)
He created man for His worship and made a constitution for him that is “Deen-i-Islam” as Ordains in the Holy Qur’an,”This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion AL-ISLAM.(Il-Maidah:3). He also gave a warning to the man that if he obeys the orders of Allah, he will be rewarded Paradise, and if he rebels against them, then he will be thrown in Hell. He will set up a “Highly authorized Supreme Court” at the Day of Judgement  and He, His highness will be the Chief Justice of His Royal Court. There He will decide the cases of the people according to the Islamic Jurisprudence, As Ordains in the Holy Qur’an,” And whoso seeketh as religion other then the Surrender (to Allah)(Al-Islam), it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter.”(Family of Imran:85).
The “Decree of the cases” at the Day of Judgment, will be, infect the reaction of the actions made by the people in this world. However, some people are of the opinion that when they are dead and have become dust or ashes, (as the Hindus set their dead bodies on fire then shed the ashes in the river), is it possible to become alive again? So, Almighty Allah Ordains,”And they say: when we are bones and fragments, shall we, forsooth, be raised up as a new creation?

Say: Be ye stones or iron Or some created thing that is yet greater in your thoughts! then they will say: Who shall bring us back (to life)? Say: He Who created at the first. Then will say shake their heads at thee, and say: When will it be? Say: it wil perhaps be soon. A Day when He will call you and ye will answer with His praise, and ye will think that ye have tarried buta litttle while. (The Children of Israel:52)
It means that all the people will be brought to life again surely, then they will be presented before Allah, where they will find reward or punishment of their actions.The Holy Qur’an reveals,” Every soul will taste of death. And ye will be paid on the Day of Resurrection only that which ye have fairly earned. Whoso is removed from the Fire and is made to enter Paradise, he indeed is triumphant. The life of this world is but comfort of illusion .(The Family of Imran:185)
