Omar ibn al-Khattab Journey to Islam

May 28, 2013 By: Mohammad Rafique Etsame Category: Current Islamic Articles

Omar was twenty seven when the Holy Prophet began his mission. Young Omar was one of those who did not care to listen to the message of Islam. He was for the old way of life. As years went by, Islam made a slow headway.

This made Omar angry. Do what the Makkan(1) chiefs might, people who once went over to Islam never went back to their old faith. One of Omar’s own maid-servants became a Muslim. He beat her as much as he could, but she would not give up the new faith.

At last in the sixth year of the Mission, a number of Muslims left for Abyssinia. This made Omar boil with rage. “Here is a man,” he thought to himself “who has split the people. People lived smoothly enough. He appeared on the scene He has torn son from father and brother from brother. Now his followers are running away to another land. Surely Muhammad is the cause of all trouble. I must slay him and put an end to the trouble.”

With this resolve Omar drew his sword and set out to kill the Holy Prophet. On the way he met a friend who asked him why he looked so upset. Omar told him what he was going to do. “You better take care of your own kin first,” said the friend, “Your sister and her husband have gone over to Islam.”

These words changed the direction of Omar’s anger. He went straight to the house of his sister, Fatima. He knocked at the door. Someone was reciting the Quran inside. Fatima was terrified when she heard Omar’s voice. She hid the portion of the Quran she was reading and opened the door.

“What was it that you were reciting just now?” Omar demanded.

“Oh nothing,” said the sister.

“Why nothing?” he shouted in rage.

“I have heard it alright. I know you both have accepted Muhammad’s faith.”

Saying this, he began to beat his brother-in-law, Saeed. Fatima ran to his help and got a blow to the head. The head began to bleed. This made the couple bold. “Yes, we have become Muslims,” they shouted at Omar. “Do what you will.”

The sight of the bleeding sister deeply moved Omar. Fatima was such a loving sister! Surely there must be some great truth in the Quran which had won her innocent heart. “Would you let me have a look at the Quran?” said Omar.

Fatima handed him the few pages of the book she had.

Omar sat down to study the pages. Soon his face changed. His anger cooled down. The fear of Allah gripped his heart. He wept and declared, “Surely this is the word of Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.”(2)

Omar was again on his way to the place of the Holy Prophet. But he was a changed man. He was not going to slay him but to embrace his faith.

The Holy Prophet was sitting in the company of some men. He saw Omar coming and asked, “Omar, what brings you here?”

“O Prophet of Allah!” replied Omar, “I have come to embrace Islam.”

Great was the joy of the Holy Prophet and his followers. Loud shouts of “Allah is Great” rented the air of Mecca. Soon everyone knew that Omar was no longer an enemy of Islam. It was a great day for Islam because one of its bitterest enemies had become its staunch follower.

Hadees-e=Gabriel( A.S.)

May 09, 2013 By: Mohammad Rafique Etsame Category: Uncategorized

Narrated Hazrat Umer bin Khattab (R.A.) that we were sitting by the Messenger of Allah, suddenly there appeared a man wearing white dress, having dark black hair, it seemed that he was a traveler came from a distance but no signs were seen of it over him. He sat close with the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and joined his knees with the knees of the Holy Prophtet (PBUH) and put his hands on his thighs and said, “O the messenger of Allah, tell me what is Islam”? The Holy Prophet replied, Islam is, you bear testimony that there is no Deity but Allah and Mohammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish Slats (Prayers), and give the poor-due, keep fasting of Ramazan, offer Hajj if you have sufficient expenses for it”. After hearing the reply of the Holy Prophet, he said, “you are right”. We became surprised that the man asked a question and then verified it? Then he again said please tell me what is (Eman) the faith? He said,” the faith is you have faith in Allah Almighty and His Holy Angels, His holy books, His holy Prophets (peace and Mercy of Allah be upon them) and also you have faith in the Taqdeer ( destiny of man) that good or bad is from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and having faith over the Day of Resurrection. He again said “you are right”. Then he said,” please tell me about ‘Ehsan’ (obligation)?”. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied,” Ehsan is that you worship Allah Almighty as you are seeing Him, and if it is not so, then you think that He is seeing me.” He again asked,” please tell me when will be occur the Doomsday”? The Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied that the man who is asking that question, had himself the sufficient knowledge about it. The Man again said,” please tell me about its signs?”. The Holy Prophet replied that when the slave-girl would deliver her “Mistress”, and the shepherds wearing torn cloths and naked feet (having no shoes), would compete to one another in making the high buildings. Hazrat Umer (R.A.) said that then the man went off. After passing some days, (within one to nine days) the Holy Prophet (PBUH) asked me,” O Umer! Do you know who that man was”? He replied that Allah and his Messenger knew better. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied that the man was Hazrat Gabriel A.S.( the highly respected Angel of Allah Almighty). He came to teach you about the teachings of Islam.
Note:- This Hadeeth reveals the fundamental beliefs of Deen-e-Islam. Hazrat Gabriel (A.S.), that is so big that he has six hundred wings, can convert himself into human being. He came and asked some questions about Islam so that the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) might know about their religion. May Allah Give us “Taufeeq” to obey Shariah orders.

World of Dream Land and reality

May 09, 2013 By: Mohammad Rafique Etsame Category: Uncategorized

. The World of Dream land By Mohammad Rafique Etesame When the people go to sleep, they enter in the dream land, and see various types of dreams. Sometimes they fly in the air, and sometimes they travel in the forests, valleys, and color full gardens etc. Sometimes they eat delicious foods and drink. But when they wake up, all of these go in the air and they find themselves lying down on the bed and feel no impression of their dreams. Same is the example of our worldly life; as we travel, eat drink and do good or bad actions. But after passing forty, fifty or even the hundred years of our life, we find no mark of our gone days except the weakness of the old age. It is the reality that every tasty food or drunken able drinks loses its taste when it reaches in the stomach. Only the tongue relishes its taste. Even the sexual desire ends after a few moments and when the couple separates each other, they feel normal and they find no sign of it. In fact, all the properties and effects of this world is a false screen. The Holy Qur’an reveals,” Know that the life of this world is only play and idle talk, and pageantry, and boosting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children, as the likeness of vegetation after rain, whereof the growth is pleasing to the husbandman, but afterward it drieth up and thou seast it turning yellow, then it becometh straw. And in the Hereafter there is grievous punishment, and (also) forgiveness from Allah and His good pleasure, whereas the life of the world is but matter of illusion.” (Al-Hadeed:20) But when the time of the dream land of this world ends, then a new era of a real life begins. And this is a life after death. Soon after its end, when one laid to rest in the grave, then three angel “Munkar Nakeer” come in the grave and put on three questions as:- (1) Who is your real Lord? (2) What is your religion? (3) What is your Holy Prophet (PBUH)? And if the dead replies,” Allah Almighty is my Lord and Islam is my religion and Mohammad is my Holy Prophet (PBUH). Then the Angels say to him “you are successful one! So go to the sound sleep and there is no disturbance and grief over you at all”. And on the other hand, if he is not the Muslim and is a follower of another religion accept Islam, he will answer to every question,” I don’t know who is my Lord and what is my religion and who is my Prophet (PBUH)?”. Then the Angels beat him a severe punishment. His grave becomes so narrow that his ribs rush into one another and he tortured much by various manners. It is mentioned that when a faithful believer who offered prayers for five times daily regularly, when dies and put in the grave and Munkar Nakeer put on him three questions, he sees there the time of Asar (afternoon prayer). So he says to them “look it is the time of my prayer, and I have to offer it. First I will offer my prayer then I will answer your questions”. The Angels reply to him, ”O the slave of God! It is not your worldly life but it is your life after death and you are now in the grave. Here you are not bound to offer any prayer or act upon other Shariah orders. It is the time to get the reward of your actions done in your worldly life”. But he insists to offer prayer. The Angels go to Allah Almighty and mention the whole story. Allah Almighty Says ,”he is My slave that no worldly business prevented him from offering prayers or acting upon other My commands. So let him offer prayer, I have forgiven all his sins”. It is said that when a faithful believer who loved the Holy Qur’an and recited it daily, when dies and put in the grave, then it comes in it in the shape of a beautiful man having bright face and says,”my friend don’t worry! despite all of your relatives and friends separated by you but I am with you. I shall make recommendation for your forgiveness and then a light spreads in the grave every where. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that grave was whether a hole from the holes of Hell or the small garden from the gardens of Paradise. (Almishkat) In fact, grave is as an “Examination hall” where the “answer sheet” comprising the three questions (as mentioned before) will be given to everyone. Whether he is Muslim, none Muslim, good or bad. And it is the reality that no one can answer theses question correctly but one who is the true Muslim. As it is mentioned before that our past worldly life like as the dreams and all our actions go in the air but those done under the commands of Allah Almighty, are everlasting and immortal. These are the best provision for us taken from this “world of dream land” to the “world of reality” (Life in the Hereafter). These are “Baqiyatus-Salihat” or ever remaining good actions. The Holy Qur’an reveals, “Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! Surely I know that I should have to meet my reckoning. Then he will be in blissful state In a high Garden Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (And it will be said unto those therein) Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days.” (Al-Mujadalah:24) In short, this is the time to do good actions according to the teachings of Islam so that we may succeed in this life and also in the life after death. Respected viewers! This video reveals that there are the “two worlds” for everyone. The world of dream land (this world) and the world of reality (the life after death or the Hereafter). This world called “Dream land” because as we see ourselves in the dreams eating, drinking etc. But after waking up, we see no sign of the dreams. Same is the example of our worldly life that after passing forty, fifty less or more years of our lives, we find no mark of our past days. All of our actions go in the air but the good actions done under the commands of Allah Almighty becomes everlasting and immortal. These are the best provision for us in the Hereafter. .
